About

Better structure.
Better decisions.

Where dMatrix begins

Every team faces moments where the path forward isn't obvious. The options are tangled, the stakes are real, and everyone at the table has a different read on what matters most.

Sometimes it's a product decision: which feature do we build next? Sometimes it's strategic: should we expand into a new market or double down on what's working? And sometimes the decision itself isn't even hard—it just feels hard because there's no shared framework to evaluate the trade-offs.

That's where dMatrix begins. Not with a spreadsheet. Not with a gut feeling. With structure.

Without structure, even simple decisions feel impossible. With it, even complex ones become clear.

We've seen it firsthand—in product teams debating roadmaps, in leadership offsites stuck on strategy, in hiring committees trying to compare candidates fairly. The common thread was always the same: when the process is messy, the outcome suffers.

What we set out to build

We set out to build something simple: a tool that takes the noise out of complex decisions. Not by removing human judgment, but by giving it a place to live—a structure that makes it visible, comparable, and collaborative.

dMatrix helps teams define what matters, weigh it honestly, and score their options against those priorities. It turns vague preferences into a clear, defensible ranking. And it does this without burying people in complexity.

We believe the best decisions happen when everyone can see the reasoning behind them. When criteria are explicit, when scores are transparent, when the conversation moves from "I think" to "here's what the data shows."

When structure is right, clarity follows.

That's the experience we're building toward—one where the tool fades into the background and the decision comes into focus.

The team behind it

We're a small team split between Boston and Seattle. Our backgrounds span engineering, design, and decision science, with roots at MIT and UW. We've spent our careers building tools that help people think more clearly—from data platforms to collaboration software.

Here's the fun bit: when we were deciding which startup to pursue, we used a decision matrix. dMatrix won. No joke.

That moment captured everything we believe about this space. The right tool doesn't just help you pick an option—it gives you confidence that you picked the right one.

We're building dMatrix because we've seen what happens when teams have better structure. They move faster. They align more easily. They make decisions they can stand behind. Better structure leads to better decisions—and that's what we're here for.
